Description
Wet floors are a common nuisance in commercial buildings
of all types. They create safety hazards while increasing
maintenance costs and making the indoor environment less
attractive. Wet floors may result from water tracked in
from outside or from a variety of indoor problems including:
cleaning activities, condensation around walk-in freezers
and refrigerators, food preparation areas, dishwashing
areas, salad bars and sanitary facilities.
The patents pending Dry Floors system uses radiant floor
heating to reduce drying time without regard to what caused
the problem. Automatic control and one or more floor condition
sensors minimize energy costs by operating heaters only
while needed. Unlike abrasive floor coatings requiring
replacement every few months, Dry Floors systems are designed
to operate for years without attention.
A Dry Floors system consists of a computerized FMC-1 switch
box-mounted controller, one SMT-1 Embedded Moisture/Temperature
Sensors, a UL Listed / CSA Certified self-power contactor
and ETI's Safe Heat CSA Certified cable and gauge for
securing the cable during installation. Optionally, up
to three SMT-1M sensors can be added for more efficient
control of larger systems. Operating voltage options include
120, 208, 240 and 277 volts. Low voltage NEC Class 2 control
and sensor wiring simplifies installation. The SMT-1 Embedded
Sensor is approximately the size of a common tile: six
inches square by half-inch thick. Other sizes are available
on special order. The SMT-1 is machined from solid brass
for ruggedness and a pleasing appearance.
Installation
Install in accordance with the requirements of all applicable
electrical and building codes and regulations.
